The Fairy Glen - a tale of the faes.
The fairies of Scotland are depicted as a tiny race of beings, who inhabit the inside of green hills, chiefly those of a conical form; in Gaelic termed Sighan. They lead their dances by moonlight, impressing upon the surface the marks of circles within which it is dangerous to sleep, or to be found after sunset.
It is sometimes said to be unlucky to pass such places, without performing some ceremony to avert displeasure of the wee folk. Several stone circles lay out on the ground, with some alters with coins and other articles laid out as offerings.
From time to time, we will do our best to post more folklore and tales on the Fairy Glen Blog; keep a look out if interested!
